Wolf Creek Trail
Heading northwest from Dayton, the Wolf Creek Trail is one piece of this important transportation system. The asphalt route is currently open in two disconnected segments. The longest section of the trail, follows the former corridor of the Dayton and Greenville Railroad. It begins in Verona at the county line and heads southeast to Trotwood. This northwestern portion follows a slightly uphill grade for most of the way to Brookville as it passes farms with cows, horses, sheep, and llamas in the pastures. The Dull Woods Conservation Area offers a nice pit stop along the trail, with a boardwalk through the region’s most pristine Swamp Forest remnant.
The shorter segment of the trail follows a northwest course from Dayton’s Sunrise MetroPark (and the intersection with the Great Miami River Trail) to Little Richmond Road, passing points of the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park and through Wesleyan MetroPark along the way.
